etnies Girl has launched etnies Girls Get on Board (GGOB), a series of all-girls action sports instructional clinics. etnies Girl has partnered with CosmoGIRL! Magazine and Shark Energy Drink to produce the series, which will hit at least 11 locations across the country, including stops at the CosmoGIRL! Beach House, from May to September 2006.

“Girls Get on Board is a great opportunity to introduce girls to the world of action sports,” says Julie Shumaker, brand marketing manager for etnies Girl. “These clinics will be a comfortable and inviting learning environment where girls can experience their sport of interest, while receiving firsthand tips from some of the best riders in the world.”

Encouraging females through one-on-one interaction and hands-on training is at the core of the GGOB program, which seeks to provide females of all ages basic skills and confidence building in skateboarding, surfing, motocross and BMX. The clinics will allow girls to learn action sports in a safe, fun and comfortable environment, while enabling them to interact with professional athletes such as etnies Girl team riders Elissa Steamer, Lauren Perkins, Nina Buitrago, Stacey Mulligan and others.

“CosmoGIRL! is carrying out its mission of empowering and inspiring girls to express themselves with confidence and style, through the etnies Girls Get on Board initiative,” says Kristine Welker, VP, publisher of CosmoGIRL! Magazine. “The synergy of the two brands, and the indie spirit that lives at the core of the CosmoGIRL! Beach House Tour and etnies Girls Get on Board, creates an unparalleled partnership for summer 2006!”

Shark Energy Drink Sales and Marketing Coordinator Christina Manzur adds: “GGOB is a great fit for Shark because we are all about providing positive energy and supporting anyone out there who needs an extra push. So many girls are interested in trying these sports but have never taken the step to try it out. We’re proud to be a part of GGOB, and hope to keep everyone’s energy and spirits up.”

etnies Girls Get on Board kicks off May 13 with a skate clinic in Nags Head, N.C., featuring pro skate instruction and demonstrations by etnies Girl team riders Elissa Steamer and Lauren Perkins.
