Escalade, Inc. saw revenues for its sporting goods segment climb 17.5% to $20.7 million for the fiscal third quarter ended October 2, primarily due to Increases in consumer spending, new product development and expanded product placement.

 

The increase is expected to carry on throughout the remainder of the year, as the holiday should shed some light on the nature of the economy. To date, Escalade is citing a cautious optimism, primarily in regard to its sporting goods segment. 


Segment operating profit more than tripled in fiscal Q3, jumping 216% to $3.0 million.  The Escalade Sporting Goods segment swung to net income of $17 million in fiscal Q3 versus a loss of $233,000 in the year-ago period


During the quarter the company increased focus on strategic investments in product development and brand marketing, a focus Escalade will continue throughout the year.
