The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has strengthened its team with the appointment of a CSR and sustainability manager.  Pamela Ravasio has joined the EOG in this new role and brings 15 years of business experience, including nine years of major involvement in sustainability issues and projects.

In 2013, the EOG made a commitment to increase resources and employ a full time CSR and sustainability expert.  After a thorough recruitment process, the Swiss national has been employed to the newly created position (part-time project manager Vanessa Knowles will continue to work with the association on CSR and sustainability on a consultancy basis).

Ravasio, shown at right, has worked in higher education, for leading businesses and as a consultant, liaising closely with textile and fashion businesses, as well as NGOs.  Multi-lingual, she has been based in Europe and Asia, and now lives in the UK.  Ravasio holds a range of professional qualifications relating to textiles, fashion, CSR and sustainability, along with a PhD in industrial and production management.  She is a published author and editor in the textile field, as well as the founder of an award winning ethical fashion blog.

“The nature of the outdoor industry is to be progressive whenever possible and the EOG is increasing its focus and resources to support the CSR and sustainability needs of our membership,” said EOG General Secretary Mark Held. “During the recruitment process, Pamela greatly impressed us with her knowledge, passion and appetite for the complex tasks at hand, and we are sure she will prove to be a great asset to the membership and our industry.”

Ravasio said she is looking forward to her next challenge. “In a young and dynamic sector such as the outdoor industry, collaboration will be a key definer in the fields of CSR and sustainability,” she said.

Pamela Ravasio is keen to work with association members and others in the industry with an interest in CSR and sustainability issues.  She can be contacted on Pamela.Ravasio@europeanoutdoorgroup.com or +44 (0) 1539 727255.  For more information about the European Outdoor Group visit www.europeanoutdoorgroup.com or email info@europeanoutdoorgroup.com.

The EOG was originally founded in 2003 by 19 of the world’s largest outdoor companies, all of which recognised the need for a cohesive, cross border approach to representation of the outdoor sector.  In a world of increasing internationalisation, legislation, environment, the media and trade are all now multinational issues.  The combined strength of the EOG’s member brands (62 in number, plus a close cooperation with nine national outdoor associations), provides the group with an extremely powerful force to represent the European outdoor industry in a constructive and positive manner.
