VF Corporation has named Dave Gatto President of its Outdoor Americas coalition. Gatto previously served as President of the Reef brand, which VF acquired in 2005. VF also announced that John Wilson, Vice President of Domestic Sales and Apparel for Reef, has been named President of Reef.

Gatto, 44, replaces Mike Egeck, who has decided to leave VF to pursue a new career opportunity. As President-Outdoor Americas, Gatto has responsibility for all of VF’s outdoor brands in the Americas, including The North Face, Reef, Vans, Napapijri, JanSport and Eastpak brands. He will report to Eric Wiseman, President and Chief Operating Officer of VF Corporation.

“The growth of VF’s Global Outdoor business has been an important contributor to VF’s success and that growth has been driven by a great portfolio of brands that has been assembled and led by a talented group of executives around the world,” Wiseman said. “We are grateful to Mike Egeck for the leadership he has provided during his career at VF and we wish him great success in his future endeavors. We are extremely fortunate to have tremendous depth of talent across our organization and to have an experienced executive like Dave Gatto in place to lead our Outdoor Americas coalition. Under Dave’s leadership, Reef’s global business has nearly doubled over the past three years. He brings a broad, diverse business background to his new role of leading our growth agenda in the Americas.”

Prior to joining Reef in 2003, Gatto held executive positions with L.A. Gear and eToys, and strategic consulting roles with Platinum Equity Holdings, The L/E/K Partnership and Bain & Company. Gatto received a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering and industrial engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Wilson, 37, has over a dozen years of experience in the surf and related industries. He joined Reef in 1999 as Director of Domestic Sales, and was named Vice President of Domestic Sales and Apparel in 2004. Prior to joining Reef, he held brand management and sales positions with Oakley. Wilson received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from San Diego State University.

“John has been instrumental to the growth of the Reef brand and has a deep understanding of the surf industry and the global growth opportunities for Reef,” Wiseman said.
