Ecco USA appointed Dave Quel to the role of president. Quel assumed the role of acting president in March after Ecco USA's President and CEO Tom Nelson announced plans to retire, effective June 1.

Quel joined Ecco in 1999 as territory manager. In 2004, he was named national sales manager, followed by VP of sales in 2006. Quel was promoted to become the footwear company's first COO in August
2009.

Nelson will continue to serve on the USA and Canada Ecco board of
directors and act as an adviser to both segments.

Quel's official appointment kicked off ECCO USA's spring/summer 2011 sales conference, initiating a well-received response from all in attendance.

“Dave has been with the ECCO group for 11 years and is a shining example of the brand's ambition to groom future leaders from within,” said Michael Hauge Sorensen, executive vice president of global sales. “We are very pleased to see Dave take the helm of one of ECCOs most important markets worldwide.”

As the company continues to build its reputation as the best worldwide footwear brand, ECCO will look to Quel to deliver steady growth plans and initiatives to position ECCO as a leader in the categories of both lifestyle and performance footwear.

“I am both honored and humbled to be named president of ECCO USA,” responded Quel.

“I couldn't have achieved these successes without the support of the talented, inspiring ECCO family that I am fortunate to collaborate with on a day-to-day basis. I look forward to my future with ECCO.”

With the appointment of Quel to president, the managing board of ECCO USA now consists of Claus Ipsen, CFO and acting regional director ECCO Americas; Linda Clohosey, vice president retail and Barbara Briguglio, senior vice president operations.
