VF Corp has confirmed plans to cease operations of Eagle Creek, the travel accessories, luggage and daypack brand, this fall.

Craig Hodges, VP, corporate affairs and communications at VF, said in a media statement, “We announced internally that after much evaluation and consideration, VF has decided to wind down the operations of the Eagle Creek brand. VF has determined that it no longer makes strategic or financial sense for us to continue operating the brand. Most of the actions to wind down the business will be completed by late fall. Throughout the process, we’ll focus on keeping our associates and customers informed of the changes and milestones as they happen.”

VF also owns JanSport and Eastpak in the category. Its flagship brands are The North Face, Vans, Timberland, and Dickies.

VF acquired Eagle Creek in 2007. Founded in 1975 by Steve and Nona Barker and initially based in California, Eagle Creek was one of the early pioneers in the adventure travel gear category, introducing the industry’s first convertible backpack on wheels and becoming known for its Pack-It folders, cubes, sacs, and toiletry kit organizing system.
