Downlite, a major down and feather processor and supplier of responsibly-sourced performance fills to outdoor apparel and sleeping bag brands, will participate in the Ethical Down Standards panel discussion – a work group session in Outdoor Industry Association’s (OIA) Sustainability Conference.

The conference will be held at the Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown at City Creek in Salons D-E on January 20th, prior to the start of Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2015.

According to OIA, the Sustainability Insights Conference offers opportunities for industry professionals to stay apprised of best practices and industry trends around risk mitigation and supply chain management, providing a forum to collaboratively discuss and address shared challenges.

The Ethical Down Standards discussion, scheduled at 11:00am, will be moderated by Beth Jensen, Director of Corporate Responsibility at OIA. Panelists include Chad Altbaier, VP Sales and Business Development, Downlite and Daniel Uretsky, COO, Allied Feather & Down. Altbaier and Uretsky will discuss the practical implementation of these new down standards, including a candid conversation around the challenges and concerns that have arisen as the standards have been put into practice.

“Downlite provides outdoor apparel, sleeping bag and bedding manufacturers and retailers worldwide a full offering of traceability standards including Responsible Down Standard (RDS), Traceable Down Standard (TDS) and most recently, DOWNPASS,” said Altbaier. “Having undergone these arduous certification processes, we understand how complex and potentially confusing these various standards can be. I look forward to a lively discussion at the OIA Sustainability Conference to share what we’ve learned so far in implementing these standards.”

Downlite invites 2015 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market attendees to stop by its new trade show booth #155-625 located in the Design Center to learn more about its traceable down offerings, and to receive a cozy pair of down booties that will keep you comfortable to your core.
