Dillard’s, Inc. reported that merchandise sales for the five weeks ended October 1, 2011 were $542.5 million compared to $532.3 million prior-year period. Total sales increased 2 percent on top of a 3 percent increase for the five weeks ended October 1, 2011.

Sales for the 35 weeks ended October 1, 2011 were $3.87 billion compared to sales for the 35 weeks ended October 2, 2010 of $3.75 billion. Total sales increased 3 percent. Comparable store sales increased 4 percent for the 35 weeks ended October 1, 2011.

The retailer said that sales during the five weeks ended October 1, 2011 were consistent with the average total company trend in the Central region, slightly below trend in the Eastern region and below trend in the Western region.
