Dillard's, Inc. announced that sales decreased 1.0% for the five weeks ended April 2, to $519.8 million from $526.9 million. Sales in comparable stores decreased 1%.

The company notes that Easter Sunday occurred the first day of the April fiscal month last year and will occur the fourth Sunday in April this year. Because of this calendar shift, 2011 March sales results were negatively impacted by Easter shopping activity moving from March to April.

Sales for the nine weeks ended April 2, 2011 were $1.01 billion compared to sales for the nine weeks ended April 3, 2010 of $1.03 billion.

During the five weeks ended April 2, 2011, sales were consistent with the average total Company trend in the Central region and slightly below trend in the Eastern and Western regions. Sales in the home and furniture category and juniors' and children's apparel were significantly below trend during the five-week period ended April 2, 2011.
