Dillard’s, Inc. announced the appointment of Bob L. Martin to its board of directors. Mr. Martin is the former president and chief executive officer of Wal-Mart International.

Dillard’s Chief Executive Officer, William Dillard, II, stated, “It is a great pleasure to welcome Bob Martin to our board of directors. Bob brings with him a proven record of leadership in the retail industry that spans over 30 years. We welcome his experienced insight, not only as one of the industry’s experts in retail technology, but also as a visionary builder of a highly successful retailing operation.”

Mr. Martin led the development of Wal-Mart International, the international division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., from its inception in 1992 until his retirement from Wal-Mart in 1999. As chief information officer there from 1983-1992, he directed the development and operation of Wal-Mart’s advanced technological capabilities during its most formative years.

In addition to his current role as a business consultant, Bob Martin currently serves in a number of leadership capacities. He serves on the boards of directors of The Gap, Inc., Sabre Holdings Corporation, Edgewater Technologies, Inc. and Furniture Brands International, Inc. He and his wife, Margie, reside in Rogers, Arkansas.
