Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. (DKS, Dick’s) is reporting it will hire roughly 14,000 seasonal employees for the 2025 holiday season, representing a 75 percent increase from nearly 8,000 seasonal workers the retailer hired for the 2024 holiday selling season.

“The increase reflects the addition of Foot Locker’s banners and an approximately 14 percent increase in seasonal workers at its Dick’s banners,” DKS noted in a media release.

The company said it plans to hire 9,600 seasonal workers for its Dick’s banners. This includes over 9,100 workers supporting Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dick’s House of Sport, and Public Lands stores, and more than 500 additional workers supporting its Going, Going, Gone! clearance locations.

At the close of the second quarter ended August 2, Dick’s operated 889 stores, up from 861 last year. This includes growth in House of Sport, now with 22 locations (from 14 in 2024), and Going, Going, Gone!, now at 52 stores (up from 20 last year). Dick’s plans to open 13 more House of Sport stores before the 2025 holidays.

In addition, Dick’s also plans to hire approximately 4,750 employees to support its Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, WSS, and Champs stores in North America for the holiday season.

Dick’s completed its acquisition of Foot Locker on September 8.

Dick’s eighth-annual “National Signing Day” will take place on Wednesday, October 22, marking the official start of this year’s seasonal recruitment for the retailer.
