Dick's Sporting Goods has agreed to pay $23,665 in fines and fees for overcharging customers in Wisconsin, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.

The report said the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection in Wisconsin filed suit against the retailer after finding discrepancies with checkout scanners at stores in Ashwaubenon, Appleton, Madison and Mount Pleasant during the September 2008 inspections. The suit alleged the scanned prices were higher than advertised and it found 17 such violations,

Dick's SG's payment includes a $15,400 fine and $8,265 in fees and assessments. In signing the settlement, Dick's admitted no wrongdoing and submitted a $23,665 check with the filing.

The order endorsing the deal was filed Wednesday in Brown County Circuit Court.
