Deuter USA announced that the company will not participate in Walmart’s new premium outdoor online store, curated by Moosejaw.

As part of a trial arrangement, Deuter products were present on the site at the time of its August 27, 2018, launch. All Deuter products are expected to be removed within the next week.

“While we appreciate the concept of what Moosejaw is trying to accomplish with this new initiative, we have decided this is not the right time to participate.” said Deuter USA President Bill Hartrampf.

Deuter’s 10-year relationship with Moosejaw remains intact, and the brand will continue to support Moosejaw’s brick-and-mortar and online channel.

“We are constantly evaluating and supporting ways to provide the best products and services to specialty outdoor consumers, wherever they are,” said Hartrampf. “We will always maintain Deuter’s commitment to our core markets, premium quality and the spirit of outdoor recreation.”

On August 28, Black Diamond sent Walmart a cease and desist notice in response to news Monday announcing the launch of a new outdoor website on Walmart.com curated by Moosejaw. The letter directed Walmart to cease and desist from use of the Black Diamond and diamond logo trademarks in a manner likely to confuse consumers into believing that Walmart is an authorized dealer of Black Diamond or that the new outdoor Walmart.com site is otherwise associated with or sponsored by Black Diamond. The letter also demanded that Walmart cease its infringing use of several hundred copyrighted photographs, the rights to which belong exclusively to Black Diamond. Walmart subsequently pulled Black Diamond product and images from its website.
