The Deuter and Ortovox outdoor brands surpassed €100 million in annual sales for the first time in the fiscal year ended June 30, according to parent company Schwan-Stabilo of Germany.

The family-owned company said sales at its Outdoor segment reached €112 million ($135 mm), up more than 15 percent on top of 13.5 percent growth in fiscal 2014.

In its annual report, Schwan-Stabilo said it was particularly pleased with the performance of Deuter USA,, but that distributors in China, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands all reported double-digit  growth rates.

Ortovox, which makes apparel and safety gear for backcountry skiing grew strongest in German speaking countries and Italy, while mild autumn weather meant an extended season for Deuter's backpack sales.
Outdoor products accounted for 18.6 percent of Schwan-Stabilo's revenues during the year compared with 53.0 percent from Cosmetics and 28.3 percent from Writing Instruments.

Those ratios will change in the current fiscal year thanks to Schwan-Stabilo's acquisition in July of Maier Sports Group, which includes the Maier outdoor and Gonso cycling apparel brands.
