Michael Brown, NASGW Chairman of the Board and President of Camfour, Inc. said the board has chosen Maurice (Moe) Desmarais to become the organization’s new president. Desmarais, who has over 25 years experience in trade association management, takes office on May 19, 2010.


Desmarais comes to the NASGW from Smith Bucklin, Inc., in Chicago, IL, the world’s largest association management company.


In his ten years as senior director at Smith Bucklin, Desmarais was the executive vice president of several associations, managing their day-to-day business and working with their boards of directors to implement important strategic initiatives. Previously, Desmarais served as executive show director of the North American Exposition (NEX), and with the New England Wholesalers Association.


“Moe brings a fresh perspective to the NASGW,” said Brown. “We expect his experience to enable us to further enhance the value of being an NASGW member,” Brown continued.


“With the NASGW Annual Meeting and Expo in Louisville just a few months away, were certainly looking forward to taking full advantage of Moe’s expertise,” added NASGW Director of Operations Tracy King.


Desmarais will be attending the NRA Annual Meeting in Charlotte, NC, where he will be meeting with the NASGW Board of Directors and visiting many of the association’s member firms. “Im honored to have the confidence of the board and look forward to playing a role in the growth of the association,” said Desmarais.
