Cycling Sports Group has selected Monza Imports to take over distribution of Cannondale and its other bikes in Australia.

Cycling Sports Group will transition its Australian operations of its Australia business to Monza effective May 1, 2014.  Monza will create a new team as part of its Bicycle Division to exclusively market and distribute Cannondale, GT, Schwinn, Mongoose, SUGOI and GURU.

“Cycling Sports Group is excited to build on our strong foundation in Australia by joining forces with Monza, a great partner who can help our brands reach their full potential in the market,” commented Peter Woods, Interim President, Dorel Recreational/Leisure.  “I’d like to thank the CSG Australia team for their hard work and commitment to our brands and IBD customers as we built our business in the region over the last several years.”

Monza Imports is well established with 43 years of industry-leading experience in Australia in action sports brand management and wholesale distribution. It previously distributed the GT brand from 2006 to2010 and currently services more than 700 Independent Bicycle Dealers in Australia.   As operations transition to Monza, the CSG brands will be integrated into Monza’s state of the art supply chain management systems enabling a faster response to market demands. Monza will also focus on a wide range of brand building activities at the retail level that will directly benefit dealers.  Finally, dealers will have a broad and experienced Monza sales team to work with.

“Monza Imports will make significant financial investments in the CSG brands and the Independent Bicycle Dealer channel that will benefit our customers and further the objectives of Cycling Sports Group in the region,” said Stephen Robinson, General Manager, Bicycle Division, Monza Imports. “We are thrilled to be able to represent such high-quality and exciting brands and to work with our dealers to bring them to consumers all over Australia. With this partnership, Monza is on the path to be the largest bicycle wholesaler in Australia, and Cannondale, GT, Mongoose and Schwinn will be its flagships brands.”

Monza will deliver continuity for existing CSG dealers by maintaining the momentum behind successful CSG initiatives, adding staff where required and ensuring the transition of brand knowledge and expertise to operate the business.  Monza will also seek to retain CSG employees.

“We remain committed to doing the right thing for our dealers and customers around the world and continually evaluate our business to ensure we have the best strategy in place for each market.  The quality systems and dealer relationships that Monza has developed, along with their passionate people, make them the perfect fit to grow Cannondale, GT, Mongoose, Schwinn, Guru and SUGOI  over the coming years,” added Woods.
