Crocs plans to close its Aurora, CO distribution center on July 8, a move which will eliminate 37 jobs. The shoe manufacturer does not expect the move to affect any of the 390 employees at its Niwot, CO headquarters.

According to several media sources, Crocs said the Aurora closure is a cost-cutting effort that will allow the company to consolidate warehouse facilities to its new Los Angeles, CA location and is part of previously announced strategy. The L.A. facility opened in January and is nearly four times larger than the Aurora warehouse.

It has not yet been reported how much money Crocs will save by shutting down the Aurora facility.  This announcement came on the heels of Crocs reporting a quadrupled net loss in the first quarter of fiscal 2009.
