Columbia Sportswear Company (COLM), owner of the Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, Prana, and Sorel active lifestyle brands has inked a new 10-year strategic relationship with GXO Logistics, Inc. to manage COLM’s European distribution center in Cambrai, France on the site of a former French Air Force fighter base that operated from 1953 to 2013.
The distribution center in Northern France is Columbia Sportswear’s primary distribution hub for continental Europe, supporting e-commerce fulfillment, retail replenishment and wholesale distribution. From this strategic location, the new partner will manage inbound logistics, storage, order fulfillment and outbound distribution activities serving multiple European markets.
The transition was reportedly prepared jointly by Columbia Sportswear and the contractor with a focus on operational continuity, employee integration and maintaining uninterrupted service for customers. The contractor said it has delivered a seamless transition of the distribution operation and the two companies have established a multi-year roadmap that is designed to “enhance agility and strengthen Columbia Sportswear’s supply chain across the region.”
