As part of an ongoing process to advance its succession plans, the Columbia Sportswear Company Board of Directors has appointed Peter Bragdon, Esquire and Joe Boyle as co-presidents of the company.

Bragdon will oversee Columbia Sportswear’s International businesses, as well as the Mountain Hardwear, Prana and Sorel brands, while continuing his existing executive oversight role of certain administrative and international distributor sales functions.

Boyle, the son of Tim Boyle, company chairman and CEO, has been appointed president of Columbia Brand, over which he will continue to oversee, including the North America business, which was recently consolidated under his leadership in the Summer of 2025.

Bragdon and Joe Boyle are expected to collaborate to advance the company’s commercial opportunities. Both will continue to report to Tim Boyle, who will retain the roles of company chairman and CEO. Tim Boyle, until recently, held the title and role of company president.

Bragdon was, most recently, EVP, chief administrative officer, general counsel and secretary. He first joined Columbia in 1999 as senior counsel, director of intellectual property, and then, briefly, assumed the role of chief of staff for the Governor of Oregon, before returning to Columbia in 2010 as VP, general counsel and secretary.

Joe Boyle, a fourth-generation family member of the company’s founding Boyle family, joined Columbia in 2005 and has served in various roles of increasing leadership and responsibility, including brand management, sales, planning, general merchandising manager of outerwear, accessories, equipment, collegiate and licensing; vice president of apparel merchandising; and senior vice president of Columbia brand merchandising and design. He was promoted to executive vice president of the Columbia brand in July 2017.

Tim Boyle said, “I have spent most of my life growing the company and its several brands. Protecting the brands, with the help of many dedicated colleagues, while expanding our global footprint, has been a source of great pride. As the company returns to growth, new opportunities will be developed, and enthusiastic leadership will be in place to take the company to the next level.

“Since 1999, Peter Bragdon has been a trusted advisor and a key strategic leader of the company. Over his tenure with the company, he has guided or aided many critical growth opportunities, and more recently has overseen our international distributors’ businesses in 74 countries, where he and his team have grown the business financially and elevated the Columbia brand on a global basis.

“Joe Boyle has been the architect of the Columbia brand’s Project Accelerate strategy, and I am looking forward to seeing him drive the strategy in the U.S. marketplace.

“I look forward to seeing Peter and Joe grow the company together in their new roles,” continued Boyle.

To support Bragdon’s transition, the Board has also appointed Richelle T. Luther, Esquire, as executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel of the company, and Jana C. Humble has been appointed to the role of senior vice president and chief human resources officer, both effective November 12.
