Columbia Sportswear has inked a deal with Tubbs Snowshoes to become a national sponsor of its “2005 Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer, Snowshoe Series which consists of four fund-raising events taking place in Vermont, Denver, Salt Lake City and Oregon…

The Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer series which began in 2003 as a collaborated effort between Tubbs Snowshoes and the Komen Foundation, has raised over $100,000 in the past two years, with 100 percent of the proceeds from each location’s event going to the local area Susan G. Komen Foundation to benefit breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.

“We’re so pleased that Columbia Sportswear has decided to join us,” said Kathy Murphy, General Manager for Tubbs. “Events like our Romp series gives us the opportunity to show women how to lead a healthy, active lifestyle year round as well as provide a venue where a community of like minded women can gather to champion that lifestyle as well as join our forces to raise funds to find a cure for breast cancer.”

Last year, the series attracted 1600 people and this year Tubbs expects to double the amounts of both the participation and the donations.

“We’re proud to be associated with Tubbs Romp to Stomp and see it as an ideal fit with our Company’s active, outdoor philosophy,” said Michael DeCesaro, Columbia Sportswear’s Promotions Manager. “It’s clearly the perfect venue to demonstrate the functionality and durability of our performance products as well as contribute to an exceptional cause.”

Other sponsors include regional sponsors like outdoor retailer, Eastern Mountain Sports a community-minded sponsor whose partnership with the Romp events benefits both the community and the local participants. EMS will provide sponsorship for both the Vermont and Denver events.
