Cirql, the Vietnam-based subsidiary of Ortholite, has appointed Renaud Allaire as Development and Innovation director.

“With roots stemming from iconic footwear brands such as Puma and On Running, Renaud brings deep expertise in material science, product innovation and sustainable manufacturing to Cirql,” the company said in a media release.

Most recently, Allaire was senior lead for footwear innovation at On Holding. He was at On for over five years in various engineering roles. Previously, he spent a year and a half at Puma as an intern and in a working student innovation role in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

“Renaud’s strategic leadership will help accelerate Cirql’s mission to transform the footwear industry through circularity, scalable innovation, and environmental responsibility,” added Matt Thwaites, VP and general manager of Cirql.

Allaire will be based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and he will “collaborate with international footwear brands to drive the adoption of Cirql’s advanced materials.”

Allaire attended the German Sport University Cologne, where he earned a Master of Science in Human Technology in Sports and Medicine. He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Cirql focuses on developing scalable and less impactful finished components and material solutions for footwear. Cirql offers finished components and materials that are either industrially compostable, biodegradable, and fully recyclable, manufactured in the Cirql factory, which is GRS-certified.
