Chums, Inc. promoted Scott Whitley to the position of product development manager.

Whitley began his career in 2000 as an order puller for Chisco, later purchased by Chums, while working his way through an Environmental Science degree at the University of Utah. An outdoorsy guy, Scott was excited by the notion of combining his lifestyle with gainful employment. He worked his way through the ranks and has held several positions during his tenure at Chums, most recently as an inventory purchasing analyst.

“Scott is a great team member whose promotion will enhance the stability and continuity of our growing product development department,” said Sterling McMurrin, Chums’ chief operating office said,
In this new role, Scott will be responsible for the leadership and direction of all aspects of the accessory product life cycle; identifying relevant consumer, competitor trends, and sales opportunities, bringing to market innovative and complementary product initiatives that meet or exceed internal quality standards, design intent, and margin targets.

“We view product development as a core competency for Chums, as important as manufacturing, sales and marketing,” said Mike Neary, Chums’ VP of sales. “New products are how we support the growth of the business. Scott cut his teeth at Chums, he knows our strengths and challenges, he already lives our core values, I could not be more excited that he accepted this promotion.”
