Aaron Jackson, formerly the director of raw material innovations and advanced concepts at Lululemon, founded Outopia in 2021 along with former LVMH Asia-Pacific executive Alexis Hou. Known for its technical merino wool apparel, the brand focuses on trail running and operates in China, New Zealand and Australia.
Wang Weiwei, managing partner at Meridian Capital, a Shanghai-based venture capital firm focused on Chinese startups, also referred to as Huaying Capital, said in a media release, “We see the unique value that ‘First Adventure in Life’ brings to young people. Outopia focuses on professional trail running gear, not just making equipment, but also embracing every journey, building a deep emotional connection with outdoor enthusiasts. This mental barrier is extremely valuable, and Huaying is betting on this brand charm that grows from passion. At the same time, the company uses technological fabrics and functional design to make gear lighter, stronger and more consumer-centric. Leveraging the professional recognition built on products like merino wool, Outopia is rapidly expanding its offline and overseas presence. We look forward to helping the company move from the professional market to a broader lifestyle.”
