Chick’s Headquarters to Close

According to local reports, the Covina, CA headquarters for Chick’s Sporting Goods will close as its new owner, Dick Sporting Goods, continues to absorb operations.

Robert Neiuber, Covina’s deputy executive director of redevelopment, told a local paper that the closing could result in the loss of more than forty jobs. Sports Executive Weekly learned recently that the former Chick’s employees retained by DKS to work on the transition had been terminated.

Chick’s Headquarters to Close

According to a report by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Chick’s Sporting Goods’ Covina-based headquarters will close as its new owner, Dick Sporting Goods, continues to absorb operations.

Robert Neiuber, Covina’s deputy executive director of redevelopment, told the Tribune that the closing could result in the loss of more than forty jobs.

It wasn’t clear if workers will be laid off or if they will move to a new local Dick’s headquarters. “Any time you have a corporation that gets absorbed by another one,” you are going to lose jobs,” Covina mayor Kevin Stapleton told the Tribune. “We’d have preferred to stay, but that’s their call.”
