Cascade Designs, the Seattle-based manufacturer of outdoor equipment, announced the promotion of Mona West from
marketing director of Sleep and Shelter to vice president of Emerging Brands. In her new position, West will oversee six of Cascade Designs’ eight outdoor brands, including Platypus, SealLine, PackTowl, E-Case, Hummingbird, and Tracks.

West will take on profit and loss responsibility as well as create product, marketing, and sales strategy to support and
rapidly grow these six brands. She will also help guide strategy as a member of the Cascade
Designs’ executive team.

“Mona is an accomplished general manager who brings more than 15 years experience at mid to
large companies to her new leadership role. Her work on high-growth businesses makes her
perfectly positioned to expand our brand presence,” said Joe McSwiney, president of
Cascade Designs.

West’s promotion comes on the heels of her successful marketing of Therm-a-Rest’s newest categories, cots and sleeping bags, as well as the highly anticipated, reinvented MSR Hubba™ NX tent series. All exceeded sales expectations.

Previously, West served as Gene Juarez Salons’ director of new products, Ste Michelle Wine Estates’ group director for direct-to-consumer sales and marketing, and as a director in various product management and marketing roles at Amazon.com. She began her marketing career as a brand manager at General Mills.

“Platypus, SealLine, PackTowl, E-Case, Hummingbird, and Tracks have incredible brand loyalty,” West said. “As someone who loves building businesses, I’m excited to combine my experience in consumer products and outdoor to help make this powerful portfolio of underdeveloped brands even stronger.”

West will lead a talented team dedicated to product development, marketing and sales. The team is comprised of Erik Flink, brand director of Platypus, Dale Karacostas, brand director of E-Case and SealLine, Stacie Langtry, product manager; and Jill Lewis, sales manager.
