German consumer-direct bike brand Canyon appointed David Cathcart as market manager for Canada. Cathcar is the company’s first dedicated manager.

Most recently, Cathcart served as the chief commercial officer for Rocky Mountain. His former roles include executive leader of Sales & Marketing at Garneau and VP of Sales at Saris Cycling Group.

Canyon said, “While consumers in Canada have been able to purchase selected Canyon bikes for many years, Canyon has never before been able to offer consumers the full extent of its product array, nor its full customer experience — from pre-purchase consultation and test-ride opportunities to post-purchase warranty and support.”

Cathcart will collaborate with the company’s North American sales, marketing, warehousing operations, and service teams in Carlsbad, CA, as well as with the product management and R&D from Canyon’s global headquarters in Koblenz, Germany.

Canyon U.S. General Manager Ben Coates said, ”Canada has an amazing riding culture, and connecting more directly with that community is the next step in our journey from our founder’s visionary beginnings to our goal to be the most inspiring brand in the bicycle industry. We intend to improve every aspect of our service to Canadian riders, and we are delighted to welcome David to help us on our way. David brings a rich history of cycling knowledge to the team that will ensure we take the right steps in significantly upping our game across all rider touchpoints in Canada, soon.”

Cathcart officially started his role in August and is based in Peterborough, Ontario, until a new Canyon office is established.

Cathcart’s responsibilities include establishing an Authorized Service Partner network, onboarding authentic local experience partners and identifying a network of ambassadors and market partners to support the development of the Canyon brand with Canadian consumers.
