Burton Snowboards hired Matthew Ross as the company’s first vice presdient/creative director for apparel & bags effective this week. Ross is based at Burton headquarters in Burlington, VT, where he reports directly to Greg Dacyshyn, Burton’s chief creative officer.


 


“We are totally committed to elevating our offering of year-round apparel and bags, ensuring that the design and quality reflect Burton’s long heritage of innovative products,” said Dacyshyn. “After an extensive search, I definitely feel that Matt is a great fit for this role. He brings some great experience with him to Burton, and I am very excited to have him leading up our design team.”


 


Ross has an impressive background that includes senior design roles at major action sports brands. Most recently the head of design at Vans Inc., Matt created and conceptualized the direction for the Vans men’s collection. Prior to Vans, Matt was the design director for Nike Sportswear, and before that, he was a senior designer at both Volcom and Hurley.


 


At Burton, Ross will lead trend research and the creative design development process for both men’s and women’s apparel collections, as well as Burton bags. He will manage the apparel and bag design team’s projects from concept to completion, working closely with Burton’s strong in-house creative teams.
