Broder Bros., Co. reported net sales in the fourth quarter decreased 3.4% to $232.7 million compared to $240.9 million a year ago.  The company’s Broder division generated fourth quarter 2007 net sales of $90.0 million, down 8.2% from $98.0 million in the fourth quarter 2006. The Alpha division generated fourth quarter 2007 revenue of $113.9 million, increasing 1.4% from $112.3 million in the fourth quarter 2006. The NES division saw net sales decline 5.9% for the quarter to $28.8 million from $30.6 million last year.


Including a non-cash goodwill impairment charge of $87.3 million, the fourth quarter 2007 loss from operations was $85.9 million compared to income from operations of $9.3 million for the fourth quarter 2006. The company recorded a net loss of $97 million for the fourth quarter, after net income of $0.3 million last year.


For the fiscal year, net sales decreased 3.1% to $929.1 million from $959.3 million for 2006. The company recorded a net loss for the twelve month period of $124.1 million, widened from the year-ago loss of $7.7 million.
