The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. announced total and comparable store sales for the four weeks ended January 28, 2006 increased 0.9% to $62.8 million compared to $62.3 million for the same period last year.

For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005, total and comparable store sales increased 0.3% to $464.6 million compared to $463.3 million for the same period last year.

Year-to-date total sales decreased 1.8% to $1,287.2 million compared to $1,310.4 million for the same period last year. Comparable store sales decreased 1.6%.

James H. Baireuther, Vice Chairman and Chief Administrative Officer, commented, “We are pleased that our positive fourth quarter sales trend extended into January. Best performing areas were Home, Shoes, Intimate Apparel, and Missy Sportswear. Even though January weather was unseasonably warm, we are comfortable with our overall assortment and fall/holiday remaining inventory. We are well positioned to receive spring goods and our inventory is balanced to the trending businesses.”
