Boldt Products, which was just recently founded in July of 2003, is apparently closing their doors. CEO and founder Duncan Robins called each of his company’s sales reps and told them that he is hoping to sell the company, but if this does not occur, he will likely shut down.

“I really hope he manages to sell the company and keep these products on the market,” Stephen Redmond, a sales rep for Boldt, told BOSS. “This has been a great line for me… It is the only headlamp line that sells in any of the specialty running stores.”

From all accounts Robbins is not calling it quits because of a lack of sales. “The decision to close is not a financial one,” Robins told BOSS. Everyone familiar with the company has been impressed with the line, and deliveries have been arriving on-time to retailers.
Robbins has made the understandable decision that his family comes first, but does not want to leave the industry. “The company was getting to the point where it would need an additional investment, which I had always planned on making myself, but my children are five and eight right now and need more attention than being an entrepreneur allowed,” Robins told BOSS.

According to Robins all deliveries were shipped prior to Christmas, but the company is going to “hold off on shipping” any additional orders until Boldt’s future is clear. All assets, patents and technologies will be going up for sale, but Robins said that he has not started the marketing process yet.
