Blizzard Skis CEO Helmut Exenberger said the Austrian ski maker returned to profitability in 2011, according to a report in FriedlNews.com.

The Salzburg company revenues reached €39 million last year, up 8 percent from 2010, despite poor winter sports conditions across much of Europe. Production grew 10 percent to 420,000 pairs of skis, with volume split evenly between the Blizzard and Nordica brands. While Blizzard’s plant operated at full capacity in 2011, Exenberger said the company considers expanding production too risky in a declining market. Instead, the company will explore ways to squeeze more production out of its existing lines.

Exenberger said the late but abundant snow now falling across much of the Alps made it likely the company would remain profitable this year.
