U.K.-based PureGym Limited reported that the recently acquired Blink Fitness locations in New York and New Jersey will convert to the PureGym model, with an initial pilot involving three locations. The remaining locations will rebrand in the coming months.
In September 2024, PureGym Limited announced the completion of its $121 million cash acquisition of Blink Fitness. At the time, Blink Fitness had 67 gyms operating in New York and New Jersey.
Launched in the U.K. in 2009, PureGym operates over 500 gyms across Europe, including corporate-owned facilities in the U.K., Denmark, Switzerland, and the U.S.
Three locations: 54th Street in Manhattan, Canarsie in Brooklyn and Woodside in Queens, have been upgraded and rebranded to reflect PureGym’s new fitness model, with grand openings on December 8. The conversion will enable the locations to be open 24/7.
Under PureGym’s high-value, low-cost format, members pay monthly and have no contractual commitment, with an emphasis on affordability. In addition to the standard offerings, the pilot locations will also add strength and hybrid training. These three upgraded sites will serve as pilot locations to evaluate member response before any further conversion of remaining Blink locations.
“We believe everyone should have access to high-quality fitness, at any time they want, and we’re committed to making that possible for New Yorkers,” said company COO Rebecca Passmore. “Our mission is to inspire a healthier nation, and we are thrilled to finally bring the city that never sleeps a true 24/7, affordable way to prioritize their well-being.”
