Black Diamond Equipment is sponsoring Mountain Project's current paid mobile application to make it free to the climbing community.

“Our partnership with Mountain Project represents an opportunity for Black Diamond to give back to the global climbing community,” explains Niclas Bornling, vice president of marketing. “Mountain Project is an indispensible tool for the modern climber, and Black Diamond’s partnership allows us to give our core users a valuable resource wherever they are climbing.”

Mountain Project is the most comprehensive online climbing guide to ever exist, featuring route beta for over 112,000 climbing routes at over 19,000 climbing areas worldwide. The mobile application allows users to download route information (location, description, images and rating) on their devices and access it anytime without a cell signal. Mountain Project features over 304,000 unique users per month and reaches nearly 2,500,000 climbers per year.

“As a programmer and a climber, building Mountain Project has been the definition of a labor of love,” says Nick Wilder, founder of Mountain Project. “Every time I climb somewhere new, I come home filled with ideas to make MP more useful. It’s awesome to see the same passion at Black Diamond-the employees are climbers and skiers who are constantly re-designing, re-engineering and re-building products to make them better. This partnership is a merging of best-in-class product and technology with a common goal: to support this steadfast community of climbers and alpinists for years to come.”
