Bison, Inc., the maker of sports equipment based in Lincoln, NE, has added over 140,000 square feet of manufacturing space. With the move, all storage, design, fabrication, coating, and packaging departments will move to its warehouse and shipping facilities.

The facilities are at 1100 SW 6th Street in Lincoln. Initially known in the industry as a supplier of basketball backboards, goals and systems, Bison has since expanded to offer similar products for volleyball, soccer, football, baseball and other sports.

Bison said its full lineup of sports equipment will now be manufactured in one facility, allowing for greater efficiency and increased capacity, which will enable it to consider contract manufacturing opportunities.

A little over a year after ground was broken on the 85,000-plus-square-foot expansion to Bison’s current warehouse facility, the department-by-department move over several months was officially complete after the company’s new custom powder coating line went live. The original finished goods warehouse also underwent a facelift, featuring new storage racks and forklifts, as well as three additional docks to reduce congestion on busy shipping and receiving days.

“After more than 40 years in the industry, Bison is again poised for growth, and we have the most efficient production processes in place to stabilize prices in spite of market pressure on raw material costs affecting manufacturers in recent years,” said Nick Cusick, Bison founder and CEO. “As a Midwestern U.S. manufacturer that sources over 90 percent of our content from the U.S., we have close relationships with our suppliers and can be responsive to changing market conditions to benefit our dealers and their customers.”
