PeopleForBikes hosted 17 female executives during a Washington D.C. lobbying blitz aimed at building support for more bike-friendly policies. The delegation met with members of Congress, senior staff and the Department of the Interior to help advance pro-bike business and industry goals.

Delegates focused on building support for the Outdoor Recreation’s Economic Contributions (REC) Act, which directs the federal government to quantify the outdoor recreation sector in its jobs and economic impacts report. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell recently initiated a pilot program to gauge outdoor recreation’s impact on gross domestic product, but the Outdoor REC Act authorizes federal agencies to calculate the number every year.
