Big Agnes, a manufacturer of sleeping bags, pads, tents and insulated apparel has hired Katie Hughes as marketing specialist and Kaitlin Cowart as graphic design assistant.

“Big Agnes is finishing another record sales year and our product line has expanded with insulated apparel, new sleeping bags and tents and distribution of Helinox trekking poles and camp furniture,” says Bill Gamber, Big Agnes president and co-founder. “We’re excited to add the talent and passion for the outdoors that Katie and Kaitlin bring to help promote our growing line and support future growth.”

Hughes, who will handle daily marketing goals and tactics, brings to her new position considerable outdoor industry experience, having recently worked in marketing and sales at Point6 and Smartwool respectively. Prior to her work in the outdoor industry, Hughes worked for Colorado Group Realty, where she designed and implemented strategic marketing plans for luxury properties.

“I’m really excited to be working at such an authentic outdoor brand like Big Agnes,” says Hughes. “During my first tour it was clear that everyone here embraces the sleeping in the dirt culture and that’s a big part of why we make some of the best gear in the industry.”

Cowart brings design and agency experience to the team after working at Creative Bearings, a Steamboat Springs ad agency, as well Fort Colins-based software company i-Cubed.

Named for a peak in the nearby Mt. Zirkel Wilderness, Big Agnes, Inc. is located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and produces award-winning sleeping bags, pads, tents and, more recently, insulated apparel.  The company is the exclusive distributor of Helinox trekking poles and camp furniture in the Americas and was recently named to Outside magazine’s “2013 Best Places to Work” list.
