Sports-Pool AG, the Swiss company that produces and markets the Belowzero brand of ski and snowboard apparel, has acquired Zimtstern,  a leading provider of snow, bike and street wear in the German-speaking market.

Sports-Pool said the acquisition will provide retailers with a single source for a wide assortment of winter apparel as well as private label apparel solutions, which Sports-Pool already offers.

Sports-Polo expects to continue employing all 17 of Zimtstern’s staff of 17.

“We want to put our synergies to use and expand our combined marketshare,“ said Thomas Triet, Sports-Pool’s new CEO. “Both Zimtstern founders, Thomas Meyer and Reto Kuster, are confident that the sale of the business to a sportswear concern presents a solid basis for further growth of the Zimtstern brand.”

Meyer, who founded Zimtstern in 1995, will stay on as part of the deal.

“We are pleased that we can put our „baby“ in good hands and we are convinced we have found the best solution with the swiss firm Sports-Pool AG,“ said Meyer. “The personnel structure will not be changed and contact partners for Zimtstern’s customers will remain the same. Zimtstern’s Showroom in Munich remains at Siegesstrasse 21, the Showroom in Zurich remains at Badenerstrasse 571a, the offices will, however, be transferred to Suhr as of December 2013.
