Black Diamond Equipment was highlighted recently in the May issue of Reader’s Digest as one of “America’s 100 Best New Discoveries.” Black Diamond’s Gemini headlamp was named “Best Flashlight” by the magazine, which reaches over 11 million readers each month.

The first hybrid LED/incandescent headlamp on the market, the Black Diamond Gemini redefined performance lighting by integrating dual SuperBright LED and xenon bulbs. The LEDs use only a fraction of the battery power of traditional bulbs, while the custom-engineered xenon bulb works in conjunction with a prismatic-coated reflector to project a smooth, even light.

Ideal for everything from ski touring in pre-dawn light to cooking under the stars, the Gemini weighs a mere 4.4 ounces, retails for just $38.50 and is tested to IPX waterproof standards. The Gemini’s Positron on/off switch makes accidental “turn-ons” impossible, and its pre-focused beam saves users time when turning on the lamp.

“In the Gemini, Black Diamond has created a headlamp that is as comfortable on alpine style first ascents as it is car-camping,” says Peter Metcalf, CEO of Black Diamond. “A superb balance of weight, durability and output, the Gemini is at the helm of integrated hybrid headlamp technology, and we at Black Diamond appreciate that Reader’s Digest recognizes that.”
