Baden Sports, Inc. has filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Seattle, WA for patent infringement against Molten USA accusing Molten of making and selling “dual cushion” basketballs that duplicate a patented design developed by Baden in the mid-90’s. Baden designates its design by the acronym “CCT”, which stands for “Cushion Control Technology”.

Baden’s complaint alleges that Molten is infringing U.S. Patent No. 5,636,835. In addition to this patent, Baden is investigating whether Molten is infringing upon other rights as well.

Baden is seeking monetary damages and a permanent injunction against further importation and sales of the basketballs that it considers to be infringing.
