Backpacker’s Pantry is doubling production to keep up with hungry upcoming Summer 2005 demand and beyond.

“We have made significant capital investments on additional machinery as well as adding a second shift to keep up with demand.” Explains Penn Burris, Vice President – Outdoor Division. Burris continues, “The acceptance and success of our existing gourmet line is a major factor as well as being in the right place at the right time. To some extent we are just picking up where some of our competitors have stumbled.”

The complex process of manufacturing ready-to-eat gourmet meals leaves very little room for error. The labor and high-tech equipment involved in keeping up with the demand has called for an additional shift and equipment. These additions will double Backpacker’s Pantry production, allowing them to keep pace with demand within the US and Canada.

Burris continues, “We are excited to capitalize on the opportunity and carry this momentum forward into the Summer Show with the introduction of our best new recipes to date. People are starting to realize that preparation for a backcountry trip can include gourmet, lightweight, ready-to-eat meals.”
