Backpacker’s Pantry is increasing production to keep up with its current 2005 demand. The company stated that manufacturing ready-to-eat gourmet meals leaves very little room for error. The labor and equipment involved in keeping up with the demand has called for an additional shift and equipment. These additions will double Backpacker’s Pantry production.

Penn Burris, VP, outdoor division for Backpacker’s Pantry, told BOSS that this increase in demand is driven by BP capturing market share and the company’s efforts at educating the public about their products. “…We have seen a number of large vendors pick up Backpacker's Pantry,” he said.

Burris also said that the machinery will also be used by Colorado Spice, a subdivision of American Outdoor Products and this investment should cover the two companies for the next 3 to 4 years.
