After a decade on the ASR show floor as a member of the action sports industry, first as part of the media, then as an exhibitor, Malia Murray is now key to putting on the show itself. Starting the week of June 12th, Murray will join Dan Moylan on the ASR sales team as the show
rounds out its 25th year. Along with Dan, she’ll be responsible for exhibitor relations, booth sales and development of sponsorship packages.

“We couldn’t ask for a better fit for the ASR sales team than Malia. She knows the action sports industry inside and out, she has trade show and publishing sales experience and a firm grasp on marketing,” says Andy Tompkins, ASR Group Show Director. “Her energy and enthusiasm will be a key part in further growing ASR, while making the show experience as rewarding as possible for her clients.”

Murray comes to ASR most recently from VNU owned, Outdoor Retailer, where she was the East Coast Account Executive. She was instrumental in expanding the exhibitor base and driving sponsorships for the bi-annual show. About 10 years ago Malia started her action sports career in Surfer Magazine’s advertising department. She then moved to Surfing and SG Magazine to focus on the development of their women’s publication. Taking with her a deep understanding of the women’s market, Murray took on the role of Marketing Manager for O’Neill Juniors.

Growing up in the hub of the surf industry, Newport Beach, Murray was fortunate enough to see the progression of the action sports industry firsthand. “I’ve been surfing for as long as I can remember,” says Malia Murray, ASR Senior Account Executive. “My roots are in action sports, so joining ASR, is a perfect balance for me both professionally and personally.” She will make the short commute to ASR’s San Juan Capistrano office from San Clemente, where she now lives and surfs with her husband, action sports photographer, Jason Murray.
