Asics reported plans to open a second flagship store in its home market of Japan later this month, housed in a four-story building in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district.
Scheduled to open on July 31, Asics’ flagship Shinjuku will cover about 605 square meters (6,500 square feet) and become the company’s third flagship globally, following its Harajuku location in Japan and a flagship in Shanghai, China.
The store will offer the brand’s running, tennis, basketball and golf collections, alongside its SportStyle lifestyle range and collaboration products.
The flagship will also introduce “Asics Create,” the brand’s first apparel customization service at a directly operated store, for customers to personalize garments with embroidered designs. A reservation-only private lounge on the fourth floor of the building will provide one-on-one consultations for selected OneAsics loyalty program members.
Asics also incorporated recycled materials, including fitting room flooring made partly from foam recovered from discarded shoes, in the construction process.
