The Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI) announced Asics has joined as a Regular Member. The number of sports manufacturers that have presently opted for a Regular Membership position within the European platform has grown to six, namely: Adidas-Salomon, La Chemise Lacoste, Nike, Puma, Diadora-Invicta and Asics.

“Bringing up sound youth through sports”, was the motto of Kihachiro Onitsuka, the Founder of Onitsuka Co., the forerunner of the Asics in 1949. With time and tenacity, following the adage that “if you want the job done right, do it yourself!” Asics became one of the largest world manufacturers of footwear and sportswear.

Welcoming Asics within its Regular Members is a great pleasure for the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry. The recognition that such a large player in the international sporting goods manufacturing scene is granting to FESI can only be seen as the result of the growing impact the European Community legislation is having on the industrial and economical life within the European region and internationally.

Asics’ evolution from an Associated Membership towards a Regular Membership status is also denoting FESI’s major role at the European level in representing and bringing home to the European Institutions the interests of the sporting goods manufacturers. Asics is now granted the right to seat within FESI General Assembly, and will thus co-decide FESI’s major lines for its long run development along with the election of FESI Board.
