Asics' GEL-Trabuco VIII has garnered ‘Best Update’ from Runner's World in the November 2005 Trail Shoe Review.

The GEL-Trabuco VIII has always had a reputation as a versatile trainer that is equally good on the trails or on the roads. This latest version features a newly designed upper that is comfortable, yet provides adequate protection from nature’s obstacles. A fully gusseted tongue is snug around the foot and keeps out unwanted debris. The unique lacing system not only improves the cosmetic appeal, but also acts as a technical function. The laces wrap the instep securely, while also locking the rearfoot in place around the heel with the use of a small cord. As one Runner’s World wear-tester said, “The lacing made the shoe fit perfectly, and the traction was great.”

So far in 2005, ASICS has garnered the prestigious ‘Editor’s Choice’ award for the GEL-1100 (March 2005), ‘Best Debut’ for the GEL-Trail Attack (April 2005), ‘Best Update’ for the GEL-Foundation VI (June 2005) and most recently ‘Best Debut’ for the GEL-Fortitude (September 2005).
