Boston’s Newbury Street in the city’s Back Bay neighborhood is getting ever more crowded in the running category this week ahead of one of the storied marathons in the world.
In an area already populated by active lifestyle brands and retailers like Arc’teryx, Birkenstock, Cotopaxi, Fjallraven, Freebird, Lululemon, New Balance, Nike, The North Face, Patagonia, Sneaker Junkies, Topo Designs, Tracksmith, Trend Boston, Vans, Vuori, and On’s new store, along with Marathon Sports, owned by Fleet Feet, just two blocks over on Boylston Street, Asics America Corporation and Marathon Sports LLC are partnering on a concept store for both brands in Boston’s iconic shopping district. The new location also lands the Asics brand two blocks over from Dick’s House of Sport.
The Asics Run Shop, Powered by Marathon Sports, opens its doors this week during the city’s most celebrated running weekend, bringing a unique retail destination to one of Boston’s busiest neighborhoods.
The store is said to be designed to serve the Boston running community and to bring together Asics footwear and apparel alongside a highly curated selection from Marathon Sports, including nutrition, insoles, wearable electronics, and eyewear.
“Great partnerships are built on trust and alignment. Asics has been exceptional across leadership, product innovation, and their unwavering commitment to the specialty channel,” said Ben Cooke, president, Marathon Sports. “This community centric retail concept extends a series of collaborations that strengthen both brands’ relationship with the customer by creating something new. We look forward to celebrating on Patriots Day and vow to bring the same level of energy to Boston’s run community year- round.”
Asics continues to build its presence in Boston, expanding its U.S. headquarters this year, after opening its Boston Creation Center in 2018.
“Opening the doors of The Asics Run Shop with Marathon Sports this week signifies an incredible moment for our brand and longstanding partnership,” said Cat Ayers, VP of marketing, Asics America. “We look forward to showing up for the running community year-round and through all conditions as we champion community and connection for runners.”
