Asics reported its recent acquisition of the race registration platform “GetMeRegistered” from SPay, Inc., for an undisclosed amount. Asics also signed an asset purchase agreement with another undisclosed company, in which it will provide a similar race registration platform for U.S. consumers.
The company noted in a media release that the businesses will become part of Asics’ subsidiary, Race Roster U.S., Inc., which includes Race Roster, a race registration platform for running events acquired in 2019, and the Runkeeper app, acquired in 2016.
In addressing the rationale for the acquisitions, Asics said, “Expanding the Running Ecosystem” is one of its strategic priorities under its Mid-Term Plan 2026.
Asics continued, “The group aims to enhance brand experience value by providing race-centered digital and personalized services and by fully supporting runners’ goals and self-realization. GetMeRegistered is a platform that provides comprehensive services from race registration to results, primarily operating in the Midwestern United States. It has also built strong and long-term relationships with various races, giving it a competitive edge.
“The United States is one of the most important markets. This transaction will help expand reach among runners in the market and strengthen the running ecosystem. Additionally, this will accelerate efforts to enhance brand communication and increase product recognition. Through this transaction, the group aims to solidify a strong presence as a race registration platform company in the United States. The group also intends to improve services for runners by developing and expanding the running ecosystem and digital services,” continued Asics
