Organizers of the Asia Outdoor trade show in Nanjing, China have expanded exhibition space by 25 percent to launch asia bike, a new show that will focus cycling and spin off on its own next year.

Visitors to the outdoor trade fair are potential bike users and retailers, since outdoor retailers are increasingly including mountain bikes in the outdoor goods segment, explains trade fair coordinator Knut Jaeger.

The concept has been greeted enthusiastically by exhibitors and attendees: Asia Outdoor will feature 20% more exhibitors (52,000-square-meters) and nearly 25% more exhibition space this year than in 2010.

Based on the advance registrations, were forecasting 18,000 trade visitors from every province in China, as well as an increase in visitors from abroad in 2011 at Asia Outdoor alone, says Knut Jaeger.

The 420 brands slated to exhibit at the trade fair include names from outside China such as Sympatex, Bluesign, Dunlop, Osprey, Scarpa, Eagle Creek, Logos, and Toray. And Asian brands will also have a strong presence at the exhibition: Kailas has reserved 680 square meters of exhibition space for its own products and 220 square meters for its sales partner Vaude. According to a survey by Nanjing University, the outdoor market in China will continue to grow in 2011 by 25%. Chinese manufacturers are also reporting this trend: Toread, Chinas industry leader, is planning to increase its number of retail outlets to up to 950 this year (compared to TNF, which is currently planning on 600). The outdoor market figures from the survey by Nanjing University will be presented on 14 July 2011 at the European OutDoor trade fair in Friedrichshafen.

Asia bike will be the first trade show of its kind in China for mountain bikes, sport and luxury bikes, as well as cycling wear and accessories. Along with 10,000 trade visitors, 15,000 attendees are expected to visit the exhibition on the open days for the public (27 and 28 July). The trade fair will feature numerous exhibitors from China and abroad, including Shimano, Look, Mavic, Tyrell, DT-Swiss, Pearl Izumi, Merida, PG-Bike, BMW, Focus, Cube, Sigma, Cratoni, Schwalbe, Specialized, UCC, and Triace. And there will be additional attractions for visitors, including a 2000-meter indoor test area for mountain bikes, pedelecs and sport bikes, as well as the Show in the Show, an exhibition of the most expensive and interesting bicycles on the market.

Starting in 2012, asia bike will take place as a separate event from Asia Outdoor following the EUROBIKE trade fair in Friedrichshafen.

The organisers of asia bike and Asia Outdoor are the Nanjing Nantex International Exhibition Center and German Messe Exhibition Consulting Ltd., based in Beijing.
