Arc’Teryx is paying tribute to athlete Marc-Andre Leclerc during the Arc’Teryx Climbing Academy by dedicating a night of speeches and events in his honor. The event is scheduled for opening night of the Climbing Academy this Thursday, July 19, in downtown Squamish, British Columbia.

Leclerc passed away, along with Climbing partner Ryan Johnson, in the Mendenhall Towers outside Juneau, AK, in March of 2018. In memory of Marc-Andre, Arc’Teryx will kick off the Climbing Academy on July 19 with a presentation from his partner in life and climbing, Brette Harrington, on the value of exploration, followed by a presentation from Luka Lindic on his travels with Leclerc climbing around the Canadian Rockies. Arc’Teryx will close out the first night with a multimedia collaboration between Nym and-Squamish based photographer/film maker Kieran Brownie, as well as music from Vancouver based band The Wooden Horseman.

“Our community suffered a great loss with Marc-Andre’s passing; his dedication to furthering the sport was unmatched,” said Justin Sweeny, North American sports marketing manager. “We’re using the first night of the academy to pay tribute to his contributions to the climbing world and to celebrate his legacy.”

Throughout the weekend, all evening Academy events, including keynote speakers, live music, movie premiers, climbing trade fair and the Photography contest, are open to the public in downtown Squamish and free of charge.
