Arbiter Sports has acquired BigTeams, uniting two leaders in athletic scheduling and team management software for schools. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Arbiter, based in Sandy, UT, is a sports and school activity management software company that provides scheduling, registration, payment, and eligibility solutions for athletic departments at K–12 schools, as well as school districts and officiating organizations.
BigTeam, based in Ashburn, VA, develops websites that assist administrators with scheduling, registration and booster clubs.
Arbiter said the acquisition builds on its recent acquisition of rSchoolToday and brings together over 100 years of combined experience serving schools, districts and state associations. Together, Arbiter, rSchoolToday and BigTeams will include over 150 U.S.-based employees and an international support infrastructure.
“While Arbiter and BigTeams have long supported school athletics, this partnership unifies the systems schools depend on every day,” said Kyle Ford, CEO and president of Arbiter. “We’re excited to bring new solutions to BigTeams’ 3,000 customers, including payments, assigning, facility management, coaching, and official eligibility. It’s a major step toward simplifying how schools manage their operations.”
No changes are expected in the near term. Over time, BigTeams customers will gain access to Arbiter’s platform, offering expanded tools and enhanced support.
Joe Romano, CEO of BigTeams, added, “This is a milestone moment for BigTeams. We’ve spent 20+ years helping schools succeed, and joining Arbiter unlocks new opportunities for our team and our customers. The alignment in culture and mission is clear, and we’re thrilled for what’s ahead.”
Arbiter also maintains partnerships with over 30 state athletic associations and is the official technology partner of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
“This partnership brings together expertise, relationships and shared values,” Ford said. “We’re humbled to welcome the BigTeams employees and customers to Arbiter and inspired by what we can accomplish together.”
Ford added, “I want to personally thank Joe Romano, Jeff Ozolins and Kim Reinecke for their leadership, passion and the exceptional company they’ve built,” he said. “Their dedication to serving schools and growing this mission is what made this partnership possible. We’re honored to carry that legacy forward.”
